First Canadian Shrine Dedicated to St. Gianna

Located within the parish church of St. Gianna Beretta Molla, it is the first Canadian Shrine dedicated to Saint Gianna. This shrine, a place of prayer and intercession, receives visitors from many places who come to pray, burn a candle and touch the first class relic of this contemporary saint.

About the Shrine

The Shrine of Saint Gianna Beretta Molla is located adjacent to the Eucharistic Worship Space in St. Gianna’s parish church. At its centre, a life-size bronze statue of the parish’s patroness stands. The statue is surrounded by 24 votive candles arranged in a semi-circular formation creating a garden of light.

The shrine was dedicated on May 10, 2015, by Archbishop Richard Gagnon, Archbishop of Winnipeg. Saint Gianna’s daughter, Gianna Emmanula, who lived because of her mother’s choice not to have an abortion, but rather carry the child to full term, was present.
