At the age of 27, Francis Kim Bautista passed away in the early morning of Saturday, January 24, 2026 with his family by his side. Kim was born on January 10, 1999, in Las Piñas, Philippines. In July 2003, he immigrated to Winnipeg with his family, where he was raised and lived the remainder of his life. He graduated from St. Paul’s High School and later earned his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from the Asper School of Business at the University of Manitoba.
He is survived by his parents, Rosita Bautista and Noel Bautista, his brothers, Varen Bautista and Luis Bautista, and his dog, Chewbacca “Chewie” Bautista.
Kim was a dedicated team member with National Bank starting his career there in 2018. His career started as an Investment Advisor Associate and progressed to Senior Data Analyst and Frontend Developer.
Kim was truly the life of the party. He had a deep love for music, which he expressed through karaoke, playing the guitar, and dancing. He also spent much of his time boxing, golfing, traveling, and walking his beloved dog, Chewie. Kim was an active and engaged member of his community throughout his youth and college years. He was an energetic participant in the St. Peter’s Parish Youth Apostolate (SPPYA) and was also involved with the University of Manitoba Filipino Students’ Association (UMFSA). Kim was also an avid gamer whose favorite games included Call of Duty, Minecraft, Fortnite, and Battlefield. In his early years, he went by the alias Starboy103, later evolving it to KimBauSlice, and eventually BauBuns. He also had a strong passion for building and customizing computer consoles, a hobby that reflected his creativity and technical skill. He showcased this through his streaming videos, one video in particular, Minecraft The Movie – Herobrine Unleashed, reaching 1.4M views on Youtube.
Kim passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. He was diagnosed in June 2025 with a rare tumor, Primary Mediastinal Non-Seminomatous Germ Cell tumor. In early January 2026 he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Throughout his fight, he remained a strong advocate for health care reform.
The celebration of Kim’s life on Earth began with a Lamay on February 6, 2026, held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. The Lamay Prayer began at 7:00 p.m.
The Funeral Mass followed the next morning on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Petrus Hall, St. Peter’s Church. Monsignor Enrique M. Samson, Jr., a dear friend and dance partner of Francis Kim, presided over both the Lamay and the Funeral Mass.
Pallbearers will be Renzs Salangsang, Aaron Layacan, Freedom Lapuz, Renz Gensaya, Ryan Mendoza, and Wendell Natoc.
