This Sunday, September 12 & 13, marks the launch of our Archdiocesan Appeal, now titled Together in Mission.

This is a meaningful opportunity for each of us, as disciples, to share in the responsibility of building up the mission and ministry of the Church.  Through our prayers, participation, and generosity, we express our commitment to the life and future of our parish and archdiocese.

Every gift, no matter the size, is a sign of stewardship and gratitude—an expression of our desire to support and strengthen the Church we share.  Together, we are called to be active stewards of God’s gifts, building a vibrant and faithful community through Together in Mission.

TOGETHER IN MISSION
Stewards of God’s Manifold Gifts
In today’s first reading, St. Paul reminds the Romans that, as Christians, they no longer live for themselves but for the Lord.  In doing so, he reminds them that they are stewards of all that God has entrusted to them, called to live—and ultimately die—in Christ.

Stewardship reminds us that we are all entrusted with the many gifts God has in store for us.  These gifts are given so that we may live lives filled with grace, sharing His love and faithfully carrying out all that He calls us to do.

MONTHLY NUPTIAL ANNIVERSARY BLESSINGS
Tuesday, September 15th, 2026 within the 7:00 p.m. Novena Mass
The Vocation of Marriage continues to be foundation for the building up of society and the Church.  As an icon of Christ’s own love for the Church, marriage is at the service of the entire community, as we witness what enduring love can ultimately do.  Our patroness, Saint Gianna with her husband Pietro, knew the gift and responsibility of sharing in such a vocation.

This Novena Mass will include a special blessing for all of our married couples celebrating a wedding anniversary in SEPTEMBER, including a renewal of vows for those marking 10, 25, 40, 50 or more years of marriage.  All couples marking their anniversary in this particular month are encouraged to bring their family and friends along with them as together with God and the community, we join in giving thanks for your vocation.

ST. GIANNA’S BOOK CLUB
Our next Book Club selection is Frankenstein by Mary Shelley.  Frankenstein offers profound insights into the doctrine of creation, the reality of sin, the hunger for grace, the consequences of ignoring grief, and the dangers of human pride.  It exposes the aftermath of a world that wants the power of God without the love of God.  It is a story not of monsters in the horror sense, but of men—and the tragic result of abandoning love and responsibility.

Join us for 8 weeks and there will be 2 options to participate, beginning on September 30th, 2026:
Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. (in-person),
OR
Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. (virtual/video call).

ST. GIANNA’S HARVEST Community Garden Update
Helping to Feed our City’s Hungry

September 8th Update:
Last weekend, we collected zucchini, apples, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes and potatoes from the ‘Grow-A-Row’ home gardens, and beans, beets, potatoes and carrots were picked from our parish garden.  A combined total of 97 lbs of produce was delivered to Missionaries of Charity, Willow Place and Villa Rosa.

Harvesting and Collection of Vegetables:
A red cooler marked ‘St. Gianna’s Harvest’, will be at the south entrance to receive your donated vegetables: Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m., and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. until 11:15 a.m.

As a parish, we hope to support the community we are called to serve.  We recognize the good work other organizations do to provide for those who may need a helping hand.

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
Grocery Gift Card Campaign
Did you know that the way you buy your groceries can also benefit our parish?  The Knights of Columbus Grocery Card Campaign helps us to do exactly that!  Grocery gift cards are available for Superstore, Sobeys, Safeway, Fresh Co, No Frills, Foodland and IGA, and the Knights receive a 5% commission on all gift cards sold, which they then generously donate to the parish at the end of each campaign year.

This year, the Knights have chosen to focus their efforts on making our Meditative Gallery a reality.  The commission earned from grocery card sales from November 1, 2025, extended to October 31st, 2026, will go towards the Gallery project.

Thank you to all who have and continue to participate in this campaign.  If you have not yet participated, please visit the Knights’ table in the Narthex after Sunday Mass and join in the effort!
