Welcome to St. Gianna's Church |
|
We celebrated our first mass on September 12, 2004. At that time we were known as the Roman Catholic Community of Whyte Ridge, Linden Ridge and Linden Woods and we celebrated one Sunday liturgy with our 90 registered families. During the course of the first year, we established all the essential ministries, including a Parish Pastoral Council. We also began the process of discerning a name for our parish to identify a patron and model for the members of our new faith community. On our first anniversary in September 2005, we officially became St. Gianna Beretta Molla Roman Catholic Church, named after St. Gianna Beretta Molla, who was canonized by Pope John Paul II in 2004.
Our faith community has flourished since its establishment. We have grown to include over 300 registered families, with new members joining monthly. We have liturgical ministries, faith and community building ministries and our own council of the Knights of Columbus. We have expanded to three weekend liturgies and plans are underway to build a worship space at the corner of McGillivray and Columbia that will proclaim the presence of Jesus in our community.
"Be a part of something great!"
